RED on a Flyer.

Hi,

Just thought I would show these photos from a shoot yesterday.

The setup was RED One, Red drive, Redbyte downconverter (with a battery pack ontop) follow focus receiver and motor, RED 7inch monitor and a nikon 17-35 lens.

I thoght it would be too much, but it floated really nicely, arm was not maxed out, and since the rig was so compact dynamic balance was really easy. Almost all of the major weight was right over the post.

I powered the RED using the RED power cable from the sled.

Heres some pics....

Anyway, just thougth I would show that it can be done, just.

Nice pics Peter. Nice to see it again, a RED on a Flyer..
The arm is not a big problem i think, maybe the gimbal doesn't like this setup very much .. How did you power the redbyte, a battery you say.. can you be a bit more specific ?

Best, Erik

Re

Hi Erik,

Its under the weight limit, so I think the whole rig was pretty happy with it. And yes, last time I had a Red on the Flyer it was a bit ugly, the power cable helps a great deal.

I powered the Redbyte using an old HoFo 4aa battery box. The redbyte has 5-20v DV printed on it, and since 4AAs is 6v, as long as the polarity is correct then there are no problems. Powered it for afew hours off new AAs.

Neat eh?

Red on floatcam FC14

Hi there,

I was happy to use the new Floatcam FC14 with a RedOne, where itīs made for.

No need to worry there about wires, downconvert and GafferTape.

You should check it out. I am looking forward to get one.

(for Germany itīs www.floatcam.de , but they have dealers in every country)

I'm impressed...and with a Red Drive too! All on a 1st Gen flyer..

I'm spoiled with the Ultra2 I get to use at Golf Channel where accessories can get thrown on without worry for balance and weight limits. I don't want to go back to using my Flyer LE!!
