Newbie here. This is my first post, so I thought I'd contribute something useful (a great deal).

Just in case anyone is interested, geeks dot com has a 7-inch LCD monitor/television for $89 !!!

I just ordered one for myself. I'll post back once I receive it, and give a brief review.

Hi

Sorry I didn't notice this thread before.

When the monitor turns up can you try it outdoors and let us know how it performs.

The only thing that worries me about it is the 11-13v window. My batts fresh off the charger come in at about 16.6v (Pag superpacs 14.4v) which would likely fry the monitor. For a shooter rig it should be fine. how do you plan on powering it?

I'd be interested in this one too! This might be a reasonable solution for a wireless director's monitor, or a follow focus monitor.

Usually, I'm skeptical about these online retailers ... but who knows, maybe all will be cool.

Looks like the same make as the 8" monitor that you used to have on your Basson Ant. Same logo at the top.

Well I guess if I really wanted to, I could use the same 12v battery pack that I use for my light (it has a cigarette lighter socket). However, since this thing is also intended to be used as a portable tv, it can run off of plain old Duracells (It'll be interesting to see how much battery life I can get out of it if I go that route).

You can always knock up a 12v voltage regulator for the power input to make sure you're safe, if you wanted to run off the rig, saves wasting time fiddling with god knows how many AA batteries!

ive been trying to find a 12v regulator for ages, looked all over the place but still no joy. Jason, do you mean build one?!

Hey Manny!

So, did you get this thing from them yet? I'd like to see if its decent enough as a follow focus monitor.

Lemme know ASAP.

I've been looking around, and it seems that this monitor is manufactured by Liiliput (cool.) There's several places that sell them, but they're all out of stock.

Just FYI.

Well, I ordered the monitor from Geeks.com, and it arrived about a week ago. It looks pretty good for the price ($89.00) The only thing I don't like about it is the channel setup. It takes forever, and the UHF channel numbers don't correspond with the channel # I selected on my Modulus ... but nonetheless ... it works well. I have yet to try it in the field, so I'll let you guys know how it performs.

As well, this monitor would probably work well as a cheapie backup. I power my L7Pro off the AB monitor plate, and I had an extra power tap cable which I modified for this monitor, and it works great.
