Hi there, everybody...I am very new to stabilizers; I have been shooting everything possible, paid and unpaid, with the Varizoom Flowpod/Arm/Vest setup I got a few months ago, and have fallen hard enough that I just made the step up (over?) to a Magiqcam IIa...I guess it's "up" in the sense that the Magiqcam is dual-jointed and closer in configuration to an actual Steadicam unit.
Been using a DVX100a on the Varizoom, and expect that the Magiqcam will fly it easier, being rated for heavier cameras.
Anyway, I was real happy to find this site, and look forward to learning a lot from the people here.
BTW, anybody wanna buy a used Varizoom system, in great condition...?

Hi Sadmax..,
First.. welcome to our community of new and not new ops...
Second, it would be nice if you use your real name or your real name in the signature.
Third, I was a former Magiqcam IIA owner/operator. For me, the system did perform well, but only with arround 13 lbs or more weight on it. Did some killing shots with a Panasonic Varicam and even the Thomson HD Viper camera on it.
Tip : If you use the Panasonic DVX cam on it.., use very light lcd screen below and also not to heavy battery. This because vertical balance (read droptime) can only be achieved with the adjusting the post up and below. The gimbal is fixed..
I'm a huge fan of the 2 most used systems, the Tiffen Steadicam and the Glidecam. I have bought about 5 weeks ago the Tiffen Steadicam Flyer. To me.. this is super system upgrade comparing with Magiqcam IIA. Also the fact that the last couple of months there seems a lot of troubles with the builders of the Magiqcam, bad support etc.., was for me the reason to upgrade to a another system. The support of Tiffen seems ok.. and the support of Glidecam seems (ask Job) super ok !
But hey, have a nice fly with your system. If you have any questions about it.., i think i can answer most of them..
Bye for now,
Erik

I'm afraid not; I spent four months on Oahu working on setting up series production, then went back to LA. I haven't read any scripts past the first four or five...
