Ok, please, don't laugh all at the same time...

Here are my first mods to my sled.

I found that the post was too thin to grab, so i went to my favourite sports shop and bought a foam bicycle handle to put it just under the gimbal (just to find out that the post was too thick, so i had to vertically cut it and add some foam from the second handle, hence the two straps you can see). Now feels 200% better!!!. (it just happens to be the same foam material as the main handle)

On the second picture, you can see i have added some weight plates to the camera plate, and used this three bolts to make sure they don't move (also added some thin layers of foam between them). Finally, as i will have to move the cam from the sled to a tripod quite frequently i added this quick release plate.

Ant: don't blame me, but today i ordered a 7" tft tv (less than 500 gr. 8 Watt 16:9 aspect) to use as a monitor. I just can't see the HDR FX1 monitor properly... it falls on the other side of the cam. (i am aquarian like you, so i like to think and build and think and build and...)

Regards to everyone.

would have gone for a smaller monitor say 4-5" myself!

you may need to put the batts for the monitor on the oposite side of the sled base to balance out the monitor both static and dynamicaly (SP)!

Also be aware that the mounting on the monitor is crap (was on mine before i modded it) and will allow the monitor to wobble.

Ant:

I will certanly take a lot of care to follow your advice. I shall keep you all informed about my little progresses.

Any suggestions for the batteries?

I will, in the end, probably rebuilding the whole bottom part of the sled.

Thanks for your opinion and support!

if it was like mine it'll come wih a holder for some AA batts on a small lead just lengthen the lead and bada bing! get some velcro to let you adjust it for balance etc.
