Hi Guys,
I thought I would share my new docking bracket with you!!!! Its a 'work in progress' really, but I mentioned it to Ant the other day, and he was interested in what I had done.
Basically, My Basson docking bracket had two problems; 1. it is made of steel, and weighs shed loads, 2. There is not enough distance from the balancing stud to the stand, to spin the sled. So I have made this aluminium one. It obviously needs finishing with paint, or preferably Hard Black Anodized when I have enough bits to do!
As you can see, I have drilled plenty of tool holes, but I plan to make my rig pretty much tool free!!! I also need to make the balancing stud for the end. I have used ball spring plungers to 'lock' the Pin in place. These are a grub screw with a spring-loaded ball at the end. As you push the pin in, the ball locates in the grove at the end of the pin. As you pull it out, it prevented from coming right out by a second ball spring. A little chain stops you from dropping the whole thing at the wrong time!!!!
Any comments on it so far?
Jon
