I am thinking to get BSN800 rig and I am trying to figure out if I can use light cameras on it. In a low mode on Baason internet page they've shown XL1 mounted on BSN800. Isn't XL1 too light weighted for this? Any add-on plates to made up for a light DV cameras?

Hiya brooklynoid welcome to the forum.
My camera is a light weight one, it's quite old and doesn't weigh as much as it could. With the camera on alone, all the adjusters for the arms are on their losest point, it's very hard to control as there's no weight behind it. I got some flat lead (for roofing) and folded it over a few times to make a 'plate', then drilled a hole to attach the plate to the camera, it's very crude but works better than if the camera was on it's own.
I would advise against buying the plates from Basson as they're very expensive, I'm sure you'd be able to find something cheaper a lot closer to where you are.
I found out using a Betacam that a heavier camera works better on the rig, the heavier the better really, and makes for smoother shots.
I hope this has been of some help to you.
